After beating up a couple in Florida over a parking spot this weekend, Kate Major continued her aggressive behavior as cops tried to arrest her. According to the police report, she kicked cops as they were handcuffing her and even tried to make a break for it at the police station. Major apparently slapped the arresting officer, yelled at him, and called him a fat f*ck. So on top of her battery charge for attacking Rosario Tapia and Juan Jimenez, Major was also slapped with charges of resisting arrest and violence & battery against a police officer. The former tabloid reporter, and serial reality TV has-been dater (Jon Gosselin, Michael Lohan), is just the latest star to go crazy on the cops. Here, The Legal Lady takes a look back at the insane lengths stars have gone to to keep the handcuffs off!
Estella Warren
After slamming into three cars while driving drunk in May, the actress/model kicked officers as they tried to cuff her. The Planet of the Apes star continued to plot her escape at the station as she managed to get out of her handcuffs and run out the door! Police caught the star and booked her on felony escape, assault, hit & run and a DUI. What a night.
Randy and Evi Quaid
The bizarre couple got caught squatting in the guest home of a Montecito mansion they’d owned years earlier in September 2010, and while Randy was cooperative as police arrived, his wife wasn’t going down without a fight. Apparently Evi refused to be cuffed and had to be restrained by cops. She was later charged with resisting arrest.
Nicholas Brendon
Venice, California residents called the cops on the former Buffy the Vampire Slayer in April 2010 reporting the drunk actor was causing a commotion in the neighborhood. When cops arrived, they found Brendon trashing property. While cops tried to cooperate with the star, Brendon apparently wasn’t interested, attacking the officers and then running away. Officers then used a taser gun on the star, not once but TWICE. Brendon was sent to the hospital and was later charged with felony vandalism, resisting arrest and two counts of battery against a police officer.
Mel Gibson
The Passion of the Christ director was pulled over for driving drunk in Malibu in 2006, and rather than quietly accepting the DUI, Mel went on an anti-Semetic rant, saying things that still haunt his career to this day. He allegedly told the arresting officer, “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,” and asked him, “Are you a Jew?” He also allegedly called a female office “sugar tits” and tried to bolt from the cops before being cuffed. Gibson was NOT charged with resisting arrest. The arresting officer, James Mee, who is Jewish, filed a lawsuit in September 2010 over the incident, citing religious discrimination and hostile work environment. Mee claims he was overlooked for six to seven other posts after complaining to his bosses that Gibson received preferential treatment from deputies. He also alleges his bosses ordered him to remove parts of his police report about Gibson’s arrest, “effectively participating in covering up the anti-Semitic posture of Mr. Gibson,” said his lawyers.
Zsa Zsa Gabor
The actress got pulled over by cops in 1989 for driving with an expired license and registration, and while most people get away with a simple ticket and fine, Zsa Zsa isn’t most people. As cops looked up her records, Gabor sped off and once police finally caught her again and asked her to exit the vehicle, she slapped the officer! The actress got slapped with battery charges and disobeying a police officer.
